The market town of Alston.

Alston is located in the North Pennines, claiming to be the highest market settlement in England. Alston is extremely peaceful and tucked away from the hustle and bustle of larger towns with the nearest town 20 miles away.

Perched in the Pennine hills, Alston is surrounded by protected Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty which are perfect for walkers and visitors looking for a peaceful trip away from city life.

The South Tynedale Railway.

The South Tynedale Railway Preservation Society has run and developed the railway as an incorporated society since 1983.

The Railway has joined together the local area since 1851, having been closed for a number of years a preservation society has taken it upon themselves to bring back the railway to its former glory looking to restore the links between Haltwhistle and Alston.

High & Low Force Waterfalls.

Waterfalls impress everybody don’t they? The Waterfalls at High Force have been running through and over these rocks for millions of years. Carving their way through the Pennines High Force waterfalls attracts vast numbers of explorers every day, with visitors keen to feel the rush of the water and to take in the stunning scenery around them.

With kayaking, walking, hiking, shooting and fishing activities available, High Force Falls really is an adventurers paradise. Wild deer can be seen roaming the fields and fauna around the many walks between an array of wildflowers.

The Nent Head Mines.

At Nent Head Mines you will come across Mine Entrances, Watercourses and old buildings which define this old Lead and Zinc mine. Located in a valley surrounded by all that nature has to offer there is no better place to visit for a peaceful exploration.

The valley and mine is listed as an Ancient Monument meaning that everything you see on your exploration around the mines is as it was when the mines shut down.
